2005  Balvenie Tasting Room & Reception.

Client brief
Design and fit out former manager’s office to create a reception area, tasting room and adjoin hall with WC.

A central attraction to reception area for all visitors arriving to feel comfortable, handcrafted furniture and quality interior reflecting the Balvenie brand. Handcrafted whisky is at the heart of this brand and it is for this reason that Paul was selected to bring the brand to life in its visitor furniture. The quality and craftsmanship of The Balvenie visitor centre speaks for itself with Scottish elm hardwood at its core.

We understood that a first meeting place for strangers, the reception, needed a central attraction – a coffee table which has real barley ears embedded in resin gaps of the elm. Once the focal point and choice of wood was established, the design evolved with fixtures and fittings developed sympathetically including a serving bar with water running through a hand crafted copper draining board with barley motif. Combining elements of copper, wood and glass. All this is a feast for the eyes and taste – natural beauty of the wood blending with the perfect whisky tasting ambience.

2007 Balvenie Shop

Client brief
To design and fit out the remaining half of the old managers office to accommodate a retail area so that customers could purchase any item from the Balvenie brand at the end of the connoisseurs tasting tour. To reflect our design already established in 2005 thus keeping the successful ‘brand to interior.’

Using the same elm, metal and glass to create an interior that was to allow customer flow, tactility and a worthy background to the products for sale. Paul created an interior providing comfort to take time, storage with no obvious locks, soft lines for easy flow and bespoke retail space, lighting, wall and floor finish providing quality back drop. The furniture itself is tactile, good craftsman quality, reflecting the Balvenie brand.
